Dividend Policy GMP's philosophy has always been to return excess capital back to its shareholders. The Board of Directors reviews GMP's dividend policy periodically in the context of the firm's overall profitability, free cash flow, regulatory capital requirements and other business needs. On May 3, 2012, the Board of Directors approved a 50% reduction in the quarterly common share cash dividend from $0.10 to $0.05 per common share, in response to the continued challenging market conditions in Canada and globally.

Designation		 Dividends declared on the common shares and the preferred shares are designated as "eligible dividends" for purposes of the Income Tax Act (Canada) and any similar provincial and territorial legislation unless indicated otherwise.
